IRA accounts are insured up to $250,000. The NCUA is the independent agency of the U.S. Government that is responsible for managing the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). NCUSIF was established by Congress in 1970 to insure member share accounts against loss within specified legal limits.
